We recently had a customer come in, with a LS/Vtec EG Civic hatch. He was running a Hytech/Rage style big tube header and wanted to swap that out for the RMF style header. He also wanted to install a race exhaust. Increasing the diameter of the piping from 2.25″ to 2.5″, installing a mid-stream muffler and test pipe. This is a fairly common job we do here at Batlground, even more so since we sell both styles of header, the test pipe (for off-road use only) and the exhaust components off the shelf. Fitment is not an issue with these parts as they have been extensively tested before being released for sale. The only modification needed in this install was to the radiator fan/shroud. This particular customer was running a stock radiator and fan set-up, which required a little bit of clearance for the header. A slim line fan would eliminate any need for modification.
The test pipe is a universal application with multiple slip joints to accommodate different header and exhaust combinations. After getting the correct number of joints and length we weld the joints together so they don’t pull apart or push together causing a leak or misalignment. This is something we learned after installing it without welding the seams.
The muffler we used is a Magnaflow stainless satin finish 7″ round, 20″ long, on center design. Since we used a mid-stream muffler, this meant we would have a straight pipe tip. In the past we have found this to produce a very loud (too loud for most) barky sound. The customer and I both agreed though, with this exhaust it has a very nice race sound without piercing your ear drums, as well as the added performance benefit of a higher flow. Thank you to our customer for having us do the project for him, we look forward to tuning it before he gets shipped over seas.

This is my Friend’s car. I been taking care of this car while he is serving our country. This week I decided to put some miles on the car, instead of letting it sit. I drove the car a total of 170 miles all around atlanta running errors. I didnt not have any issues with speed bumps even tho the car is lower. I could still use the phone while driving ( I know, I aint pose too, but I need some directions). The exhaust has awesome tone, looks great, and looks stockish. I have had a few ppls even ask me, where is the can. That pipe looks stock, but is louder.
thanks for the comment! Glad someone gets to enjoy it a little.
Loving my new exhaust setup guys! (Or was until I left lol) Thanks again and can’t wait to get back there so I can get tuned! I should have followed my friends advice and got it tuned but due to funds going to another drug of mine (electronics) I wasn’t able too.
Things are coming together slowly but surely for this car. Next I will be working on my exterior!
FINALLY!!!!
Here are the things some of the things I’m going to need to start getting and fixing:
New Passenger Door
New Passenger Fender
New Front Bumper
Fix Crocket Hood
Fix Driver Side Quarter-panel
I think that’s it, other than some other exterior mods I might go with later down the road. But then it’s off for prep and painting!!! Probably going to be some long days but it will definitely going to be a learning experience and WELL worth it.
Awesome dude! Thanks for serving out country and we look forward to having you back
Tracy
