Sorry this is not about the upcoming release of a video game. This is Global Time Attack! An event that features all types of cars and drivers with different levels of performance and experience. The Time Attack events focus on getting the fastest lap time in each class and they have a class for everyone and most any car. The most recent event was last weekend at Road Atlanta during Formula Drift with over 15,000 fans looking on. Our newest intern, Brandon Connelly competed unopposed in the Synergy Turbo AWD True Street Class, thank you Patrick at Synergy Turbo for all your help and support! Brandon did very well for his first on a race track with his lowest lap time of 2.04 in his mostly stock Evo 8. The GTA organization will have more events this year that promises to pay out $10,000 to the class winners! Check out their website here for more info.

Global Time Attack with Formula Drift May 11th & 12th

Here is an interesting event happening at Road Atlanta on the same days as Formula Drift this year. It’s the Global Time Attack series created for the enthusiast racer with a factory turbocharged vehicle (turbo in stock location) and they have AWD, RWD, and FWD classes. For the novice driver they also have a street car class that runs street tires. The object of the event is to get the best single lap time. Snergy Turbos even offer their Synergy Turbo True Street Class Contingency Award for this class, get more info here. Catch all the GTA(Global Time Attack) action along with Formula D on May 11th & 12th at Road Atlanta.

Little Car Big Brakes

We originally started a five lug conversion for this Colt to fit some larger wheels with a different lug pattern. Our attention soon turned to the old factory calipers and mounts that would now be incompatible. Our options at this point are to use a set of OEM Mitsubishi Eclipse calipers or to look towards the aftermarket for a solution. We decided that switching out to larger Wilwood calipers, some OEM IS300 rotors and a pair of custom caliper brackets would solve our issue of fitment. The added braking power will make this little Colt much safer on the street and more competitive on the autocross circuit.

Genesis Baseline

Today we are getting a baseline reading for this Hyundai Genesis 2.0T. In the coming weeks we will start modifying the car with a few simple bolt-ons and then measuring the torque and horsepower once again to determine the gains. Depending on the results, a larger turbo may be in this cars future.

Yaris Gets Dropped

Recently we installed a set of Tein lowering springs on a Toyota Yaris. These springs lowered the car approximately 2″ giving this little car a much nicer stance. The rear set took little more than 5 min. While the front install was very straight forward, it still took much longer to complete. Now front and rear Teins are in place it’s time for an alignment, and to pull up that 2012 SCCA rulebook for any class changes this may cause.

Kevin’s Subaru GC8 EG33

This GC8 already stands out quite a bit with it’s flat Blue paint and widebody kit. The fact that Kevin has decided to drop in a flat six cylinder engine from a SVX (known as Alcyone SVX in Japan) will set it apart from the crowd completely. The Subaru SVX came from the factory with this EG33 which was basically Subaru’s EJ22 4 cylinder motor stretched out to have 6 cylinders, making this new engine a total of 3318cc. The car will remain N/A for this leg of the project, although Kevin does have plans for a turbo setup in the future.

Carbon Fiber is Not Just for Show

This is the Exedy Hyper Series Carbon-R Clutch containing full carbon fiber discs. With a maximum torque rating of 760ftlbs and a super lightweight design, this should be an excellent clutch choice for a newly commissioned project. Stay tuned for more info.

S-13 in for some upgrades

As you may have read in one of our previous posts, this owner just picked up his 13. Now he is ready for some improvements. We sat down with Anthony and came up with a plan. A larger 5130 Precision Turbo, Tomei Procams, Brian Crower valve springs and retainers were ordered, now it’s time for the install. After the install is complete the 240 will be traveling a whole 10 feet to our dyno for a fresh tune. A previously instated Apexi Power FC will be handling the engine management duties. We can’t wait to see the final results.
