Batlground Tuned Supra

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

We had an extremely nice Supra come through or shop this past week. Its owner, Jerry, had recently purchased the car. He wanted us to check it out and re-tune it before he moved to Texas. This is a fine example of no-expense-spared Supra. From the painted and chromed out engine bay, to the HRE 19″ wheels, to the immaculate interior complete with dual NOS bottle fiberglass enclosure in the back seat. The power plant includes a Precision 76mm turbo, 272 cams, and a full 4″ exhaust system. Controlling all that power is a AEM EMS. A full Defi gauge pack with Boost, fuel pressure, EGT, and a Zetronics wide band O2 keeps Jerry informed of whats going on. This car is special.

After a general inspection of the mechanical aspects and a synthetic oil change we put it on the Dyno. With as much time and money that was spent on the appearance and parts of the car, the previous owner really dropped the ball on tuning. The baseline pull yielded a good but not good for this car number of 433whp. The fuel and timing maps were a train wreck of peaks and valleys that caused a lot of power, torque, and performance loss. The car was able to perform decently with this tune mostly because it was running on 110 octane and higher boost. However when 93 was used the car fell flat on its face.

After Dan was finished with his magic though, the car came alive. Dan was able to produce 600 whp and 507 wtq on straight pump 93 octane. Our customer only had one thing left for us to do for him. His fuel economy was…lets say equal to that of a Lockheed C130. He ordered up some Precision 750cc injectors to replace the 1600cc faucets that draining his wallet as fast as his gas tank. We gladly installed them and his gas mileage (and wallet) have recovered just fine. We’d like to thank Jerry for his business and he had this to say after he left.

“Dan, You are the man! Great work and tune with the car bud! I am happy and satisfied with your work! Hope I can find another good tuner like you in Texas. Once again thanks for your help and good luck to you with your business. Take care.. Jerry”
