This weekend a car got dropped up at the shop that needs to be finished for an event on the 18th of this month. If you haven’t realized, that is only 5 days for us to have this car finished. Fortunately the engine and transmission are in the car, but that is the easy part. Since then, we got the engine harness 90% finished. The picture of the random wires is everything that was removed from the harness that is not needed. We will update our blog with the progress on this car.
ls1 – IS300
Monday, June 13th, 2011S13 dyno
Thursday, June 2nd, 2011Here we have an s13 with a built sr20det with a 30r turbo. It came to the shop to get tuned, but rarely do cars just need to be tuned. This car only had 1 slight mechanical issue, the mechanical timing was off 1 tooth. After that was fixed, it was time to see what she could do. It put out a nice 362whp. The car does have a few restrictions, but overall it is a healthy machine.
EVO bov and ignition upgrades
Tuesday, May 31st, 2011Here is an Evo that came into the shop on the stock weak ignition system as well as a weak blow off valve. We then proceeded to swap the ignition system with a Buschur coil on plug setup with cdi. The stock bov got replaced with a Tial 50mm unit. Unfortunately today I do not have any fancy dyno numbers to prove what this setup did, but I will have them shortly. Both of these items do not make more power on their own, but they have the ability to let the car run more boost without issues, resulting in more power.
NSX dyno
Thursday, May 26th, 2011Here is a turbo NSX. The new owner brought it by so we could see if it made what he was told when he bought it. When buying a used turbo car, you could be getting a great deal, or buying someone’s old problems. In this case, the customer came out ahead, at least for now. The car made a respectable 433whp.
Batlbanners
Monday, May 23rd, 2011In the near future be prepared to see some Batlground windshield banners running around the Atlanta area. Last week we decided to bust out the sticker machine and print some banners. At the moment we have: black, red, white, and some mixed colors printed. If you would like one, contact us and we would be happy to get one for you.
Turbo RSX Tune
Friday, May 20th, 2011Here is a turbo rsx that we did some touching up on the tune. Nothing crazy, no huge power numbers either. The car made 247 at the wheels with a very basic turbo kit, keeping the boost low. Honda’s don’t need tons of power to go fast. Weight is their key to speed.
Transmission Troubles
Thursday, May 12th, 2011Here is a Lexus SC300 that we did a v160 (supra tt 6speed) transmission swap into. He went with the v160 because it is known to hold way more power than this car would ever produce. When the customer purchased the transmission, he was told that it had low miles and no issues. It drove fine for him for about 2 years, with no major issues. Then the 3rd gear syncro went out, eventually not allowing him to use third gear anymore. After removal and upon further inspection, this transmission has obviously been apart before. We replaced third gear, as well as any other parts that looked worn, and could potentially cause more problems.
Batlground: Red Robin Evo X gets tons of upgrades
Thursday, February 10th, 2011This Evo X came in about 2 weeks ago for a ton of upgrades. The run down on it is as follows. Perrin Frontmount intercooler and turbo back exhaust, o2 housing, forced performance fp red turbo, competition clutch 6 puck sprung ceramic clutch, deutchwerks 850cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump upgrade, cobb silicone turbo inlet, k and n filter, and profec b boost controller. The installation of the parts went pretty smooth although it was a much longer process than installing similar parts on and evo 8 or 9. The turbo being on the backside of the engine makes it much harder to change. The clutch was no easy task either, there is not much room to maneuver the tranny in the engine bay once its unbloted from the engine and just getting it to that point requires pulling off a ton of other things that are in the way. No wonder the dealership calls for $1000 in labor to change a clutch on this car. It all worked out in the end and it made very close to 400 wheel horsepower. With some upgraded intercooler pipes and a cold air intake 425 wheel horsepower should be no problem and after that maybee some cams to take it to 450. We should see this car again when the cold weather breaks for some more upgrades.
Add another 600 horsepower MKIV Supra to the Batlground list
Wednesday, January 26th, 2011Like the title says, add another one to the list. Over the past 10 years I have worked on and tuned more MKIV Supras than I can count. They range from stock to 1500 wheel horsepower monsters. In my opinion a MKIV Supra with 600 wheel horsepower is perfect. Its still very drivable on the street, uses unleaded fuel and didn’t break the bank to build. Driving this car reminded me of the first MKIV Supra that I owned. I purchased that car from its previous owner in Miami, FL and it was already modified and running 600 horsepower to the wheels. The first test drive sold me on the car and from then on I was hooked. If you haven’t had the pleasure of driving or riding in one of these cars yet I highly recommend you do so. Who knows, you may get hooked too.
Back to the grind, Jamaica to Las Vegas.
Tuesday, October 5th, 2010Daniel Willie just got back from his trip from Jamaica and it was another great success for Batlground. Daniel was exploring business oppurtunites in Jamaica related to importing and exporting used automobile parts but he found some time to get a little tuning in. Here is one of the cars that he did. This car was an ultra clean EK Honda Civic with a fully built b20 bottom end and b16 head. The head was ported and polished with Skunk2 pro 2 cams and the compression ratio was 12.5:1. The tune was very challenging due to the lack of 93 octane gas in Jamaica, 90 octane is the highest that is available. Because of this Daniel had to play with the cam gear timing to allow the peak cylinder pressure to drop low enough to prevent detonation. After it was all said and done the car made 242 hp and 160 foot pounds of torque. Not too shabby for 90 octane. You can look at the before and after dyno charts to see how much smoother my tuning is compared to the last tuner who touched the car. Check out the pics and Daniel’s facebook page at www.facebook.com/batldan for all the pictures of Jamaica. Also be sure to check out the Batlground fan page at www.facebook.com/batlground to keep up with all the Batlground business activities.
