Camaro digital gauges

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

Remember that 1967 Camaro from last week? Here is the next stage that we have completed. Fully digital gauges in the factory gauge location. The dash uses it’s own sensors to show more accurate readings as well as displaying more information than the factory cluster. It fit behind the factory panel and makes the gauges match the modern ls1 under the hood.

Batlbunny

Monday, May 16th, 2011

Friday afternoon we heard shouting and horns coming from the street. Upon investigation we noticed that there was a little bunny trying to cross the road. With the help of a courteous driver we rescued the bunny from traffic with no harm to anyone. After work it was dropped off at the Cobb Emergency Vet, they will take care of him for approximately 4 weeks before being released into the wild.

Its a race Ford Fiesta! Its something like a party.

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

This Sunday we brought out our 2011 Ford Fiesta to attend the SCCA Solo II Autocross Atlanta Region Points #2 event.  If you didn’t already know, this car was built by Batlground Motorsports LLC to promote diversity in motorsports.  It was completed last October and unveiled at the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas.  It was designed with a womans taste in mind and boy is it a head turner at every event it attends.  Since then we have been searching for a few girl drivers to pilot the car and it seems that we have finally found the perfect fit.  Her name is Theresa Pond and this is what she had to say about it.

“It is not often that a life long dream comes true. Thanks to my wonderful husband Hunter Pond and our dear friend Daniel Willie, owner of Batlground.com, my dream of being a race car driver is coming true this Sunday. I will be representing Batlground in their modified 2011 Ford Fiesta at the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) time trials at Turner Field. I hope to do them justice!”

Theresa did a great job shaving off 14 seconds from her first run to the last run.  With no previous racing experience this was a huge success for her and for Batlground.  With some minor changes in the suspension, brakes and alignment she should be able to get her times down another 10 seconds.  This will let her be very competitive in her class.  Who knows, maybe she will even take home the class win for the season.

Burrrrrrerrrr, 2011 brings the chill

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Well, its only a few weeks into 2011 and this epic snowstorm has pretty much shut down the city of Atlanta and the surrounding area for one full week.  The schools have been closed, the banks, and pretty much everything that makes living an easy life possible.  We prepared for the worst last weekend and its seems that we made it through ok.  We did take Monday and Tuesday off due to the condition of the roads but we have been in the shop working hard for the rest of the week.  I guess having a huge truck and knowing how to drive are the keys to being mobile when it snows in Atlanta.  We opted to go sledding on Monday and Tuesday at Piedmont Park.  It seems that we were not the only ones who had that idea.  It was packed.  Here are a few shots of how many people were there.  I have been in Atlanta for 16 years and I go to the park each and every time it snows to go sledding and it has never been that packed.  I guess it might be time to look for another hill to sled on when the next storm hits.

2011, tons to do and not enough time in the day.

We finally made it!  2010 is finally behind us and boy are we glad to bring in 2011.

During the last few months of 2010 we concentrated on completing all of the long term customer vehicle projects that had been under construction.  This was a tough goal to complete but somehow we were able to get them done.  Coming back into the shop for the first week of 2011 has been pretty busy.  We can say that the year is already looking good.  We have a full shop of customer cars to work on and more customers on the schedule.  This alone is a proven fact that there is no replacement for quality workmanship and attention to detail in this industry.  This is the standard that you can expect when you bring your vehicle to Batlground to get any work performed on it.  Whether its general maintenance or a full trimmed engine build.

As many of you may know and many of you may not Batlground has been involved in some sort of racing since its inception back in January of 2000.  From drag racing to drifting we have pretty much built it all.  So for this year we will be attending a number of events throughout the Southeastern United States with our shop built vehicles and some of our customers will be there as well.  Our 2 drift cars (The Nissan S14 and the Nissan 350z) will be out at select drifting events (hopefully both of them will have new power plants by March, hint, hint).  We are preparing our 2007 Corvette C6 Z06 for road racing, high performance driving days, and time attach events.  Last but not least, we will be campaigning our 2011 Ford Fiesta in the Atlanta Region SCCA Solo II events.

We are looking forward to a great year here at Batlground and we hope to see you at the shop or at the track.

Ahh, We can breathe… Finally back from SEMA 2010

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Well it was quite the adventure to get to the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas with our Ford Fiesta project vehicle.  We only had a few short weeks to complete the vehicle and transport it out to Nevada for the show.  After final assembly and installing the vinyl graphics package we only had 48 hours to spare before the car was needed to be handed over to Ford at the show.  We packed the trailer and took off to Vegas, 36 hours later we were there and we enjoyed a much earned nights sleep before the load in day.  The car was placed at the point position in the entrance to the ride and drive area.  This was a prime spot at the show and this is where a large majority of the traffic would be taking place over the week.  This area was also home to the GAS display, the CORE racing truck demonstration, the Ford Raptor ride and Drive, the Mustang ride and drive, the Ken Block Fiesta demo and the Vaugn Gitten Jr. Mustang demo.  We were very pleased to work with Ford on this project and we look forward to what the 2011 SEMA show brings us.  Keep an eye out for the Batlground Ford Fiesta at numerous motorsports events around the Southeast United States during the 2011 season.  Check out facebook.com/batlground to keep up on all the daily news.

Batlground: Try not to inhale the smoke. Cough, Cough…

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

The Batlground Drift Team headed up to Nashville this past weekend to get some testing, practice, photographs and video before the 2010 season closed out.  THE TIRE SMOKE WAS SIMPLY AMAZING.  We all had a great time on and off the track.  Daniel Willie’s orange S14 performed flawlessly as always and it was decided that this may be the last event on the sr20det engine platform.  Batlground drift cars have been powered by the Sr20det engines since the begining 6 years ago.  Daniel Willie said, “Its time for something new, something more powerful and more competitive.  V8 powered cars with sequential transmissions are here to stay i drifting and we are making the necessary changes to keep our cars competive for the 2011 season.”  Batlground has been helping Chris Ward out with his car and there are only a few more bugs to work out.  The dog gears will solve the most recent syncro issue with his transmission.  Here are a few pics to enjoy and a link to a sick video on Youtube that Edward took.  Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLAYywm9nh8&playnext=1&videos=V0C8PQ1Gqlo&feature=mfu_in_order We will post more videos and pictures at www.batlground.com/gallery and at www.facebook.com/batlground.

Batlground Ford Fiesta SEMA car gets BIG BIG Stoppers

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Today we installed the big brake kit on the Batlground Ford Fiesta SEMA car.  These things were freakin huge, I think we will be able to do an endo with them once we get some super sticky tires on the car.  Everything installed perfectly, the fit and finish were great and they working flawlessly.  Now we just have to pick the correct wheels to allow enough clearance between them and these huge suckers.  Who knows, this may be too much brake for the car.  We will test them out soon enough to find out.  Take a look at the pictures and watch for the most current play by play updates at www.facebook.com/batlground and www.facebook.com/batldan.

Batlground Ford Fiesta on the way to getting its stance.

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Yesterday we received our custom Batlground Motorsports LLC coilovers in from the manufacturer and I decided to go ahead and install them.  They are 32 way adjustable coilovers with valving and spring rates suited for SCCA auto crossing events and spirited street driving.  The install was very straightforward and the fitment was spot on, that is a rare occurrence with most newly developed parts on cars these days.  I cant wait to get the Batlground big brake kit on today and get the exact wheel fitment so we can get her lowered and looking good.  If you missed the live broadcast on justin.tv/batlground yesterday dont worry, we will be broadcasting all of the build process every day so catch up with us whenever you have time.
