This customer decided to go with a Rough Country 7.5″ suspension lift and a 5-6″ body lift. The suspension lift is now completed and this rig is already sitting very high. As soon as the body lift arrives it will be even higher to accommodate for the 40″ tires.

7.5″ Lift Completed. 5-6″ to go.
Tuesday, October 4th, 2011Shop 350z gets a face lift
Wednesday, June 29th, 2011Unfortunately due to Formula D rules, our 350z is getting a new skin. The rules state that a car must have body, not just a chassis like our 350z has been for a while now. Some of us like the new look of the car, but others like how it looked like a big go-cart. As you can see the car is getting more than just a body, it is getting a bunch of little things that are needed to pass tech as well. Obviously we can’t drop working on customer cars to just finish this car, so it is being worked on between projects as well as after hours. The car needs to be ready for a Pro-am drift event on July 9th in Charlotte NC. That means a few more late nights to get this car competition ready.
Looking for a few good interns
Friday, June 24th, 2011Due to the overwhelming success of this years Batlground Motorsports intern program, we have decided to expand. We will be inviting a couple more eager students to join us.
Our interns are not afraid of a little hard work rewarded with learning something new. We strive to provide a give and take environment where both the student and teacher are helping each other to accomplish a common goal.
Here at Batlground we deal with a wide array of different makes and models of vehicles, did you think we only built import projects? Think again, there is a huge force of American muscle with modern LS basedV8 projects coming in all the time. Not to mention our own LS6 powered drift car. Between overseeing the work our techs do to our customer cars or getting some hands on experience with Batlground’s own stable of vehicles, there is never a dull moment.
Our current interns have also enjoyed racing with us. This years Atlanta Region SCCA Autocross season has proved to be a valuable experience, with several of our own constantly improving their lap times. Want to learn by doing? We encourage everyone to join us for all of the Autocross action.
If you are interested in becoming part of the automotive industry, are currently enrolled in an automotive or motorcycle program or just have some extra time to spend doing what you love, please send us a resume. Please send all resumes to us at Batlground@gmail.com for review. Don’t worry if you do not currently have a full resume, we just want to get an idea of your background and interests, please send pics as well. Pics of past, present or future projects are always helpful.
ls1 – IS300
Monday, June 13th, 2011This weekend a car got dropped up at the shop that needs to be finished for an event on the 18th of this month. If you haven’t realized, that is only 5 days for us to have this car finished. Fortunately the engine and transmission are in the car, but that is the easy part. Since then, we got the engine harness 90% finished. The picture of the random wires is everything that was removed from the harness that is not needed. We will update our blog with the progress on this car.
Camaro digital gauges
Tuesday, May 17th, 2011Remember that 1967 Camaro from last week? Here is the next stage that we have completed. Fully digital gauges in the factory gauge location. The dash uses it’s own sensors to show more accurate readings as well as displaying more information than the factory cluster. It fit behind the factory panel and makes the gauges match the modern ls1 under the hood.
Batlbunny
Monday, May 16th, 2011Friday afternoon we heard shouting and horns coming from the street. Upon investigation we noticed that there was a little bunny trying to cross the road. With the help of a courteous driver we rescued the bunny from traffic with no harm to anyone. After work it was dropped off at the Cobb Emergency Vet, they will take care of him for approximately 4 weeks before being released into the wild.
Modern day 67 Camaro
Wednesday, May 11th, 2011We are not just an import performance shop, we work on domestics as well. Here is a good example, a 1967 Camaro with a LS1 fuel injected engine. We did not perform the swap, but finished up little wiring annoyances that make the car not 100% finished. The import scene is moving towards v8′s with the popularity of the ls1 engine swap. A few years ago, v8′s seemed like they were only for the domestic guys but that is not the case now. This however shows a ls1 where it belongs, under a hood built by general motors. Next for the car is updated gauges and then suspension.

Practice Drift Day at the Nashville Import Alliance
Friday, July 23rd, 2010This past weekend we decided to head up to Tennessee to get some track testing at the Nashville Super Speedway. Import Alliance was doing a show there and they decided that drifting should be a part of it. They teamed up with Tennessee Drift to throw a great practice event for a handful of drivers. Our main goal of the weekend was to get the cars set up correctly, get the track figured out, and to get data. This proved to be very valuable as we went through many changes on the car to get it to work the way we wanted it to.
At the beginning of the day the starting line was moved pretty far back and we were getting some good entry speed into the first turn. I marked this on the map with a green line. With the starting line back that far we were able to initiate at the red line on the map at 93 mph. Even with that entry speed we struggled to get the car to hold a nice wide line. We just needed more entry speed to be able to hold a nice wide drift on that huge first turn. After getting sucked in on the shallow line over and over we decided to put in a higher rear end gear. This let us go up a gear into 4th and we were able to hold a slightly higher line in the first turn. With this, higher tire pressure and increased dampening on the rear shocks the car began to hold a wider line but not as wide as we would have liked to seen. I drew out the line that we were being forced to run due to the slower entry on the map with a blue line. We really needed the starting line moved back about 50 feet so that we could enter around 110-120 mph.
Halfway through the day the event organizers moved the starting line up 50 feet which cut down our entry speeds even more and pretty much made it impossible for us to hold the wider line. All in all it was a good day of practice and now we don’t have to scramble to set up our cars and figure out the track on competition day. I am sure when we go back the starting line back where we need it to be.
